Who is Mary Bazan?
The artist named Mary Bazan started to wave since she was 8 years old, out of curiosity and admiration to see her parents wave; that's why she started to make small rugs on a chair's base using her fingers to intertwine the warp, together with the wool threats and a comb to press all, to be able to obtain her works of art.
Her parents taught her this method as a starting point to become familiar step by step with the family traditions. As time went by, when she was 11 years of age, she already was able to use the treadle loom, creating rugs of 80cms of width and 1.5m long (around 262.5 x 492 ft).
6 years later, she started to create bigger pieces 1.3m by 2m (around 426 x 656 ft), and that's the size she currently produces.
She makes them in a great variety of designs and colors; she has a real passion for her craft and that is why she keeps doing it after so many years.
It's important to point out that her passion to create representations of her culture and creativity in her rugs, that each of these pieces has a unique charm since she provides them with a special touch.
